Gingue Brothers Dairy Farm

I went to the Gingue Brothers Dairy Farm. It has a lot of fields. In the milking center, farmers milk many cows. The machine to milk is comfortable for cows because it is not only milking but also massage. I was surprised about it. The pond which amass cattle manure is about eight feets. The smell was really stinky, but I gradually got used to the smell. So I really enjoyed.
After that, I went to the river. I ate the cake which my teacher made and I enjoyed playing in the river. Although I wet through, I really enjoyed playing with my best friends and teachers!

Japanese Rice

In Japan, the staple food is rice. But thesedays, agricultural workers is decreased because population dedicated in agriculture is decreased. As a result, food self-sufficiency rate is declined. So the ministry of agriculture in Japan try to change this situation. Japanese government try to participate in a international treatment which called TPP. This treatment resolve the problem because rice will be imported from  foreign country. But it has a problem. The rice which imported from other country is cheap than domestic one. Therefore Japanese government hesitates partaking it.

Interesting facts about Gingue Brothers DAiry, LLC!

I could feel closed to the farm because I can understand what farm do through Facebook page. That is the first interesting thing about it.
When a heifer (female cow) is about two months away from giving birth she will be dried off, meaning I stop milking her, and given time to rest and grow a nice, healthy calf. During this period she is called a dry cow.
What I call a female calf born with a twin bull. It's pretty rare that cows have twins but when they do and the genders of the calves are male/female the female is called a freemartin.
I'm going to keep pasteurization one simple, because there are different kinds of pasteurization and we don't want to mix you all up. The basic definition of pasteurization is heating a food (in this case milk) to a certain temperature for a predetermined amount of time and then cooling it down immediately.
And the last interesting thing is very important information for me because I love spicy food. If I like spicy food I could really benefit from having a glass of milk on hand. Milk is better for soothing my mouth after eating something spicy because the casein in milk cleanses your burning taste buds. These are what I interested in or didn't know about farm.

COTS

I went to the COTS, Committee on Temporary Shelter. First of all, that shelter wasn't like what I thought. A shelter which I thought was dirty, messy, and bad smell. However, COTS exploded my thinking. It has a lot of beds and lockers. And Although it crammed, it is better than nothing because a lot of people can live as possible as COTS can.
COTS was found about thirty years ago in Vermont because people who has no home or somewhere to live with warm in shivering winter will be died.
In Japan, it has a lot of shelters. But it is not so kind to the homeless because it costs some money to live in. Unlike Japan, it has an instant effect on homeless to be able to use COTS for free. Japan should follow COTS' example.
Visiting COTS was precious experience to me, so if I can, I want to go to my town's shelter.

Questions about COTS

The first question is for the Homeless: Are you satisfied with your shelter's circumstances?
Although the staff may be satisfied with working for the Homeless, it may be inappropriate for them. So this question is very meaningful to know their real intention.
The second one is for the COTS's staff: What is the most successful aspect since 1982 when COTS was founded?
The most successful aspect which I think is saving a lot of people particularly in winter. The average temperature in Vermont is below the zero. So if don't have the shelter, a lot of Homeless are freezing to death.
The last question is for the residents and the advocates which donates money: Do you think the investment is appropriate? I mean whether the way of using money is appropriate or not.
In usual, donation will be used inappropriately because it is difficult to work that system.

July 25th, 2013/LCC

We went to the Lake Champlain Chocolate Factory in Vermont last Thursday. Arriving at the factory where is also direct sales store, we took a lecture about LCC's history, how to make a chocolate, and so on.
First, we knew that LLC was born in 1983. It is gradually famous since then. We also learn about how to make chocolates. Its process is unexpected for me because it depends on the tastes. For example, if we make a black chocolate, which contains a hundred percent cacao, we add some ingredients as usual. On the other hand, if we want to make a white one, we have to add a cup of milk to make chocolate be white. Cacaos which is raw material of chocolate are come from mainly Central Africa, Central America, and Southeast Asia. It has various color like red, green, and yellow.  It sounded like maracath.
Second, we tasted three types of chocolates including black, bitter, white. But, in fact, I don't eat sweets in usual therefore I didn't enjoyed tasting it:(
Anyway, it spent a meaningful time! Although chocolate will be melted until I will go back to Japan, I want to give LCC to my family and friends!!!

Introduce about Myself

I'm going to introduce about me and my family. I'm Tetsuya Saito from Tokyo, Japan. I was born on January 17th, 1995. I hardly go to the outside of Tokyo and foreign country because I grew up in Tokyo since I was born. So this is my first time to come to the US. At first, I like watching sports. In particular, I love watching soccer. However, I had never played soccer. Instead of playing soccer, I play basketball because I was fascinated by NBA's player! Although I can't play like them, I always practice hard. In addition, I'm interested in the language. No matter how hard I use six languages, which assume Japanese, English, French, Spanish, Russian and Arabic, I want to use easily in order to get the precise information from all over the world.
I'll tell you about my family. I have father, mother, and the young sister who is fifteen years old. My sister belongs to the basketball club like me and she is good at studying mathmatics. If I couldn't solve a question, she can solve it easily. She is genius. That's all, thank you!

This is Tetsuya!

Hi, everyone! I'm Tetsuya from Tokyo, Japan.
